Heather Rae Tietz was born in Menomonie, WI and works and lives in Minneapolis, MN. She graduated with a B.A. in Studio Art at St. Olaf College and is a graduate of the Minnesota New Institute for Ceramic Education (MN NICE) at the Northern Clay Center. She shares a studio and gallery at clay@3 in the Northrup King Building. In her ceramic work, she explores conceptual forms inspired by memory, relationships, and landscapes from her childhood and places she has lived in recent years.

Her work was recently on view in the Art in the Home interior design exhibition at Artistry in Bloomington, Minnesota. At Eisenhower Community Center in Hopkins, Minnesota, Heather teaches paperclay techniques, surface decoration, and throwing on the wheel in "Exploring Pottery." She recently created an installation for Made Here in downtown Minneapolis, showed large-scale work in the MN NICE Exhibition at the Northern Clay Center, and has work circulating in the Minneapolis Art Lending Library (MALL).
